In a significant show of support ahead of the upcoming August 16 bye-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency, respected youth advocate and community leader, Hon. Afolabi Idris Olanrewaju “ALOMA”, has formally endorsed the candidacy of Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (popularly known as DoN), the flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon. Afolabi described DoN as “a dynamic, grassroots-focused politician whose track record of youth empowerment, scholarship to indigent students, productive motions and bills at the hallowed chamber of the state House of Assembly, and community engagement aligns with the aspirations of the Ibadan North constituency.”

“We need youthful, visionary leaders who understand both the struggles and the strengths of our people,”
He further reiterated that Folajimi DoN has demonstrated those qualities consistently, and I’m proud to stand with him as we work toward victory on August 16.”

The endorsement was accompanied by a symbolic donation of campaign materials, including Posters and other branded souvenirs. These are expected to boost street-level mobilization and voter outreach efforts in the constituency.

Responding to the gesture, Hon. DoN expressed gratitude for the endorsement, noting that Hon. Afolabi’s support represents a unifying voice among youth advocacy groups and progressive stakeholders across Oyo State.
“Hon. Afolabi Idris has long been a trusted voice in Oyo youth circles. His backing is a signal to all that our campaign is not just about party politics—it’s about people, purpose, and progress,” DoN said.
The Ibadan North bye-election was scheduled following the death of the former House of Representatives member representing the constituency. PDP stakeholders have rallied around DoN, who emerged through a consensus process praised for its transparency and unity.

Political observers believe Hon. Afolabi’s endorsement may further solidify PDP’s growing momentum in the area, especially amid recent defections from rival parties and increased grassroots mobilization.
As the August 16 re-run draws near, all eyes remain on Ibadan North, where the outcome is expected to shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
