Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS), the flagship public transportation company in Oyo State, has recorded unprecedented growth and modernization over the last two years under the leadership of its Chairman and Sole Administrator, Hon. Ibraheem Oladeji Dikko.

Marking his second year in office, Hon. Dikko has overseen a sweeping transformation across operations, infrastructure, staff welfare, and technological innovation, positioning PTS as a model of modern public transportation in Nigeria.

Massive Expansion in Operations

From a modest two routes, PTS now operates 39 intra-city routes within the Ibadan metropolis with 55 active buses, reflecting a tenfold expansion in its service reach. Inter-city services have also been rolled out, with 12 buses currently serving routes across Iseyin, Saki, Ibarapa, Oyo, and Ogbomosho.

The company has ventured into inter-state transport, launching Ibadan–Lagos and Ibadan–Abuja routes, using 20 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, further cementing its role as a regional transport powerhouse. New PTS terminals have been developed in Ibadan, Lagos, and Abuja, increasing access and convenience for commuters. In total, the company now boasts a fleet of 81 buses, spanning intra-state, inter-city, and inter-state operations.

Improved Staff Welfare and Institutional Growth

Hon. Dikko’s administration has prioritized staff welfare through the resumption of pension and gratuity payments dating back to 1994, prompt salary disbursement, and implementation of the minimum wage structure.

Notable HR achievements include the promotion of senior staff to managerial roles, recruitment of new drivers and supervisors, and the introduction of festive packages, uniforms, and ID cards. The OYSHIA health insurance scheme has been reintroduced, and new allowances for night, overtime, and special trips have been implemented.

To enhance service delivery, several new departments have been created, including Human Resources, ICT, Public Relations, Logistics, Legal, Media, Customer Service, and Business Planning.

Infrastructure and Technological Advancement

PTS facilities have undergone extensive upgrades, including modern workstations, solar lighting, intercom systems, and CCTV surveillance. Offices are now fully equipped with laptops, desktops, and power inverters, while an industrial generator ensures uninterrupted operations.

Technological strides have been made with the launch of the Pacesetter Card for electronic fare payment, installation of GPS trackers and free WiFi in all Omituntun and CNG buses, and digitization of HR, finance, and operations systems.

The company’s ICT department has been bolstered with modern tools, and security across all facilities now includes 24-hour personnel and surveillance.

Looking Ahead: The Next Phase

As part of its two-year anniversary celebrations, PTS is set to unveil the next phase of development, including:

  1. A total revamp of its Administrative Headquarters
  2. Modernization of the Ibadan Inter-State Terminal
  3. Expansion into more major inter-state routes
  4. Full deployment of advanced surveillance systems
  5. Commissioning of a CNG conversion center and fueling station in partnership with Atlas Core Energy and Logistics Ltd.

With these initiatives, Hon. Dikko’s leadership continues to drive PTS toward a future of sustainability, innovation, and excellence in public transportation.
