… A Testament to Visionary Leadership and Unrivaled Political Acumen || By GSM ADVOCATES

In a unanimous and historic decision, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has selected Oyo State as the host for the party’s 2025 National Convention, scheduled for November.

This decision is more than a political statement, it is a clear acknowledgment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s towering influence within the PDP and on Nigeria’s democratic landscape.

At a time when the party seeks stability, structure, and a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, the choice of Oyo State under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is both timely and symbolic. It reflects not only the Governor’s relentless commitment to good governance but also his proven ability to transform vision into results.

Since assuming office in 2019, Engr. Seyi Makinde has not only changed the face of governance in Oyo State but has also become a beacon of hope and excellence within the PDP. His leadership style marked by transparency, development-driven policies, and people-first governance has won him respect across party lines and elevated the status of the South West in national politics.

By naming Makinde the Chief Host of the 2025 PDP Convention, the party is placing its trust in a leader who has continually delivered on every mandate. He is expected to lead the hosting of thousands of party faithful, stakeholders, and national delegates with the same competence and grace that have defined his administration.

The selection of Oyo State for this monumental gathering is not accidental. Under Makinde’s leadership, the state has witnessed unprecedented transformation across critical sectors, Education, Health, Infrastructure, Security, and the Economy. These developments have made Oyo a model for governance and a safe haven for high-profile political events.

Hosting the convention in Ibadan, the political capital of the South West, repositions the zone as a strategic block in PDP’s roadmap to 2027. It also signals a recalibration of political priorities where competence, delivery, and integrity are prioritized over loud rhetoric.

The convention theme “Building Stronger, To Reclaim and Rescue Nigeria” perfectly aligns with Governor Makinde’s own political philosophy. From his people-oriented programs to his advocacy for internal party reforms, Makinde has consistently demonstrated that reclaiming Nigeria requires more than politics, it demands vision, courage, and sacrifice.

His influence has not only grown within the PDP but has also become instrumental in building bridges across regions and ideologies, ensuring that the party remains a viable alternative for Nigerians yearning for purposeful governance.

As the PDP marches toward a new era of reawakening, Engr. Seyi Makinde stands at the heart of its future. His role in the convention both symbolic and practical, confirms what many already believe: that he is not just a leader of Oyo, but a national asset whose time has come.

The 2025 National Convention will not only be a political gathering but a showcase of what PDP can achieve when visionary leadership meets collective will and no one embodies that vision better than Governor Seyi Makinde.

As Oyo State prepares to open its arms to the nation in November, one thing is clear: the PDP has chosen wisely, and history will remember this as the moment the party placed its faith in a man who has redefined what it means to serve.

Indeed, Makinde is not just hosting a convention, he is hosting a new chapter in the PDP’s journey.

Long live the PDP.
Long live Oyo State.
Long live His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
