The Agbaakin of Olorunda-Abaa and the Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF) have jointly extended heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, for the official commissioning of the newly dualised 5.9-kilometre Akobo Ojurin–Olorunda-Abaa–Eniosa Junction Road, a landmark project aimed at improving connectivity, safety, and development within the Lagelu Local Government Area.
The commissioning ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at N.O. Idowu School, drew the presence of key dignitaries, political stakeholders, and enthusiastic residents. The road, beyond being dualised, is equipped with modern drainage systems and solar-powered streetlights, representing a comprehensive upgrade to infrastructure and public safety in the area.
The statement released 9ja News Oloye Benedict Akika, a philanthropist and founder of the Omituntun Benedict Forum, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his people-focused governance and infrastructure revolution across the state. He emphasized that the project will have lasting economic and social benefits for residents of Lagelu and neighboring communities.
The OBF which cut across Oyo State, Nigeria and Diaspora also expressed deep gratitude to Barr. Bayo Lawal, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, who represented the governor at the commissioning. Special appreciation was also extended to the Speaker and Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, political appointees, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and all indigenes of Lagelu Local Government who turned out to celebrate the historic event.
According to the Forum, the project reflects Governor Makinde’s commitment to equitable development and his passion for ensuring that rural and semi-urban communities are not left behind in the state’s infrastructural agenda and wish the governor greater heights in life and politics.
The newly completed road is expected to ease vehicular movement, reduce travel time, improve security, and enhance the socio-economic activities in the axis while further solidifying Governor Makinde’s legacy as a builder of modern Oyo State.
