Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by an inferno that ravaged an industrial facility in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred at Shril-Balaj Industrial Limited, in the Olopomeji area of Ibadan, in the early hours of Sunday. The recycling section of the facility, which housed an accumulation of disused tyres, was affected, leading to the destruction of property worth millions of naira.

Special adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident in our correspondence.

He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 07:07 hours on Sunday, 20th July 202,5, through telephoning and CFS Adesina to the incident at the said address.

The Agency’s Officers, led by CFS Olubunmi Christy, swiftly deployed to the incident scene. On getting to the place, we met the disused tyres recycling section full of the accumulated disused tyres engulfed by fire.

The firefighters quickly get to work by applying the necessary firefighting equipment to curb the fire. The fire was strictly restricted to where we met it and prevented it from spreading to other company sections. The fire was extinguished.

He further revealed that the fire incident was a result of an explosion of a running machine, ignited nearby combustibles, and set the section ablaze.

The fire affected the recycling section and disused tyres whilst the fire service was able to save other sections of the company from the devastating fire.

Quick intervention by the firefighters restored normalcy to the company.
