The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government has reaffirmed its unity, loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, and confidence in its local leadership following a high-powered stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Local Government Secretariat, Idi Ayunre, Ibadan.

The well-attended gathering brought together over 120 leaders across various party organs, including elders, former members of the House of Representatives, commissioners, special advisers, political appointees, ward chairmen, executives, youth and women leaders, and statutory ward representatives.

The meeting was convened to address emerging political dynamics and reassert the party’s direction in Oluyole. According to a communique issued after the meeting, the stakeholders agreed on several resolutions central to party discipline, internal unity, leadership loyalty, and grassroots mobilization.

In a unanimous vote, the entire stakeholders passed a vote of confidence on Governor Seyi Makinde, and praised his leadership of the party in Oyo State.

“We appreciate the continuous astute loyalty, forthrightness and strong belief of party members in the sterling leadership of His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde,” the communique read.

The meeting also endorsed the leadership of the Oluyole Council Chairman, Asiwaju Akeem Akinwale Olatunji, describing him as “the capable representative, face and symbol of hope in Oluyole Local Government.”

The Party Chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, and his executive team also received unanimous endorsement for their role in fostering unity and ensuring the PDP’s rising dominance in Oluyole.

The stakeholders credited their leadership with successfully attracting defectors from other parties into the PDP fold.

Speaking after the meeting, Hon. Depo Oyedokun, former House of Representatives member, stated: “This meeting shows that the PDP in Oluyole is not only united but also committed to upholding the values and vision of Governor Makinde. We’re stronger than ever and poised for even greater victories.”

The stakeholders categorically rejected any notion of alignment with coalition movements, declaring that Oluyole PDP remains a unified, dominant force in the grassroots political landscape.

In a move to reinforce party discipline, the stakeholders condemned attempts to destabilize the party through social media or external influences.

It resolved that any member found guilty of bypassing internal mechanisms for resolving grievances would face the newly constituted seven-member disciplinary committee necessary punitive measures.

The disciplinary committee is chaired by Engr. Ayuba Kolawole Balogun, former Commissioner for Industry and Applied Science, with Hon. Tunde Akinola, former Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, as Secretary.

“Party members must use the existing structures, ward and local government executives for dispute resolution.

“We will not tolerate any attempt to cause disaffection or sow discord in Oluyole LG,” Hon. Olumide Akinlade, Special Adviser to the Governor stated.

The stakeholders also expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde and Engr. Olatunji for the joyful celebration of the recent Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) festival, and emphasized that the administration’s inclusive approach was felt at the grassroots.

Also, the meeting commended Governor Makinde’s “ingenious and fatherly role” in how he midwife the selection of the PDP candidate for the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.

The stakeholders however, encouraged all members to remain steadfast, continue grassroots mobilization, and promote party unity.

They reiterated the importance of active participation in party programs and urged members to be ambassadors of the party in their communities.

Signatories to the resolution include Alh. Mukaila Adegbola (Party Chairman), Hon. Depo Oyedokun (Former House of Representatives Member), Hon. Olumide Akinlade (S.A. to the Governor on Oluyole federal constituency), Alh. Afobaje (Oyo state Chairman, RUWASSA), and Hon. Taofeek Azeez (Leader, Oluyole Local Government).

Meanwhile, members of the Resolution/Disciplinary Committee are
Engr. Ayuba Balogun (Chairman), Hon. Tunde Akinola (Secretary), Hon. Olatunde Ayoade, Hon. Taofeek Ogunrinde, Mrs. Basirat Alao, Alh. Ronke Aderogbin, and Hon. Samuel Ayokunle (Party PRO).
