The Chairman of Ido Local Government Area, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has mourned the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, describing the late monarch as a towering symbol of peace, wisdom, and unity.

Oba Olakulehin, who passed on at the age of 90, was celebrated for his remarkable leadership and unwavering commitment to the progress and harmony of Ibadanland.

In a condolence message released on Monday, Hon. Adeojo extended his sympathies to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde; the Olubadan-in-Council; the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII); the Ibadan Mogajis; and all sons and daughters of Ibadanland, particularly the people of Ido Local Government.

“It is with a heavy heart that I join the rest of Ibadanland in mourning the passing of our revered monarch, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin,” Adeojo said. “His reign, though brief, was a reflection of dignity, wisdom, and fatherly guidance. He will be sorely missed.”

The council chairman prayed for the peaceful repose of the late king’s soul and asked for divine strength for the royal family and the traditional institution to bear the irreplaceable loss.

“May the soul of our departed monarch rest in perfect peace. May his family, the Olubadan-in-Council, and all Ibadan indigenes find comfort in his impactful legacy and the memories of his wise leadership,” he added.

Hon. Adeojo also called on residents of Ibadan to embrace unity and uphold the values championed by the late monarch during this time of collective mourning.

Oba Olakulehin’s demise signals the end of a significant chapter in Ibadan’s traditional history, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate through generations.
