As Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day, Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, former Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, has issued a powerful message of hope, reflection, and renewed purpose, calling on Nigerian youth to take charge of their democratic future.

Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, who is widely regarded as a grassroots mobilizer and a key political figure in Ibadan North, used the occasion to salute the sacrifices of pro-democracy heroes, particularly Chief MKO Abiola, whose annulled 1993 mandate remains a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.

“June 12 is not just a date—it is a symbol of struggle, sacrifice, and the unbroken will of the Nigerian people to choose their own path.

We owe it to the memory of our heroes to uphold the spirit of democracy in our everyday governance and interactions,” Bibire stated.

As a Federal House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North, Bibire emphasized that the nation’s future rests on deepening civic education, fostering youth inclusion in politics, and strengthening institutions at both local and national levels.

“Nigeria’s democracy is only as strong as the participation of its people.

I call on our youths, especially those in Ibadan North, to rise beyond the sidelines and become active builders of the Nigeria they want to see.

The time to stop outsourcing leadership is now,” he said.

Bibire praised the efforts of successive administrations in preserving democratic gains, particularly the decision of former President Muhammadu Buhari to officially recognize June 12 as Democracy Day, a move he described as “a bold correction of history.”

He also commended the current administration and Governor Seyi Makinde for maintaining peaceful democratic processes in Oyo State, and for providing platforms that empower the people at the grassroots.

In a message filled with both optimism and realism, Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Bibire urged Nigerians not to give in to despair, despite
economic and political challenges.

“Democracy is a journey, sometimes slow, sometimes tough.

But it is our best path toward justice, equity, and a truly representative government.

Let us not relent in our push for reforms, fairness, and opportunities for all,” he added.

Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Bibire concluded his message with a passionate call to action:

“On this June 12, I stand with the people of Ibadan North and all Nigerians in saying: our voices matter, our votes matter, and our future is worth fighting for. Let us keep hope alive.”
