As part of deliberate and collective efforts towards improving the welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, Oluyole LG, in collaboration with the Oyo State Hospital Management Board, and the state NYSC have concluded plans to construct a befitting accommodation for corp members in the council.

This was as the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, officially laid the foundation for the construction of a Corp Members Lodge yesterday, May 6.

The groundbreaking foundation laying, held at Orile Odo on a piece of land donated by the Oyo state hospital management board under the leadership of the executive chairman of the board, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, who expressed confidence in enhanced well-being of NYSC members serving at the Council.

The initiative according to the Council boss, aims to provide safe and comfortable accommodation for NYSC members posted to serve in the local government area, thereby addressing long-standing challenges surrounding the housing of corps members in rural and semi-urban locations.

Olatunji, speaking at the event, stressed the importance of supporting the NYSC scheme through sustainable infrastructure, noting that when completed, the Lodge will house Corp members who will also enhance service delivery at the general hospital in Oluyole.

Olatunji disclosed that the general hospital in the council has suffered lack of manpower especially for night shifts due to the absence of a befitting accommodation for medical personnel.

“This project is a testament to our shared commitment to the welfare of youth corps members who are posted to serve in Oluyole local government. And this is why my special appreciation goes to a visionary leader, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, who without hesitation, granted our request for a piece of land for this project.

“We recognize the contributions of these young graduates to administrative efficiency and effective service delivery, especially in underserved areas, and we are determined to make their stay in Oluyole as comfortable as possible.

“This strategic collaboration is a testament to what we can achieve together when we align our vision for our people especially at the grassroots level.

“We’re proud to align and our vision for the welfare and well-being of our people in Oluyole with that of our father and leader, the executive governor of Oyo state; Engr. Seyi Makinde,” Olatunji said.

The Oyo State Coordinator of the NYSC, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, lauded the initiative, describing it as a model of good governance and inter-agency collaboration assuring that upon completion, NYSC would post Nurses and medical students to Oluyole.

The luyole NYSC Coordinator, Mr Tunde Oladipo, who represented the state coordinator, noted that the lodge would not only improve the living standards of corps members but also encourage more professionals to accept rural postings.

Also present at the ceremony were the Zonal Inspector of Ibadan South Zonal Office, Mr Olu Ajo representatives from the Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, community leaders, and members of the NYSC.

They collectively expressed optimism that the project would be completed swiftly and serve as a legacy of progressive leadership under the administration of Asiwaju Olatunji.

Others present were Councillors, supervisory councillors and top officials of the local government as well as the Oyo state hospital management board.
