Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State have showered encomium on workers in celebration of this year’s Workers’ Day, praising their resilience, dedication, and contributions to grassroots governance and development.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan, the chairman of the chairmen, Hon. Sikiru Sanda,
praised public servants, especially local government workers, for their resilience, professionalism, and steadfast contributions to grassroots development despite economic and operational challenges.

“Today, we join millions of Nigerians in celebrating the backbone of our administration — our workers. Their commitment to duty, even in trying times, keeps the wheels of local governance turning. We sincerely appreciate their sacrifices and loyalty.

“Our Artisans are also a an important contributors to our local economies, their skills are not just trades—they are vital expressions of creativity, discipline, and tradition passed down through generations”, Hon. Sanda stated.

He reaffirmed the 33 local government chairmen’s continued commitment to improving the welfare and working environment of local government employees.

According to him, the synergy between the local governments and their workforce is vital to achieving sustainable development at the grassroots level.

Hon. Sanda also called on the state government and stakeholders to continue prioritizing the interests of workers, noting that an empowered workforce is essential to building a more productive and equitable society.

As various workers across the country gathered to commemorate the annual Labour Day, the Oyo council chairmen urged employees to remain focused, united, and proactive in delivering quality service to the people.
