…Aspirant pledges grassroots development, youth empowerment, and transparent governance.

An engineer and grassroots politician, Oyèwálé George Salawudeen, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Chairman of Oyo West Local Government under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued on Saturday, Salawudeen said his decision was driven by a deep sense of responsibility and purpose to contribute meaningfully to the development of Oyo West and improve the welfare of its residents.

He expressed strong admiration for the leadership style of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, noting that the governor’s people-oriented policies, professionalism, and commitment to sustainable development have been a major source of inspiration since his undergraduate days at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

Salawudeen, a registered civil engineer with a Master’s degree, said his academic and professional background has equipped him with the technical expertise, discipline, and strategic thinking required for effective governance and service delivery at the grassroots level.

Highlighting his political experience, the aspirant noted that he has remained actively involved in party activities and grassroots mobilization.

He recalled his role as Secretary of the Contact and Mobilization Committee during the 2024 Oyo West chairmanship election, where he contributed to strengthening the party’s outreach and voter engagement across the local government.

He also pointed to his membership of the Oyo State PDP Media Team, where he has been involved in projecting the achievements of the current administration and promoting the ideals of the party through strategic communication.

Salawudeen further demonstrated his loyalty to party discipline, referencing his previous aspirations to serve as a councillor in his ward. Despite enjoying widespread support, he said he respected the party’s decision when he was not selected, reaffirming his commitment to unity and collective progress within the PDP.

Outlining his vision, the chairmanship hopeful pledged to prioritise grassroots development, youth and women empowerment, infrastructural improvement, and local economic growth, while ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

“I am fully prepared to build on the solid foundation laid by the current administration and deliver impactful leadership that reflects the aspirations of our people,” he stated.

He, therefore, appealed to party leaders, stakeholders, delegates, and residents of Oyo West Local Government for their support and endorsement as he seeks the PDP ticket for the forthcoming election.

Oyewale hailed from Ward 10 Pakoyi/Idode zone in Oyo West Local Government.
