Oyo West SLG, Adekanmbi Adepeju Calls for Greater Gender Equality on International Women’s Day

Hon. Mrs. Adekanmbi Adepeju Folashade, the Secretary to Oyo West Local Government (SLG), Ojongbodu, Òyó has joined the global call for greater gender equality as the world celebrates International Women’s Day today.

Mrs. Adepeju in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo Correspondence on Saturday, emphasized the importance of promoting women’s empowerment and challenging discriminatory practices that hinder women’s progress.

Hon. Adekanmbi also highlighted the need for collective action to address the persistent challenges faced by women, including gender-based violence, limited access to education and healthcare, and economic inequality.

According to her, a woman’s strength is beyond measure. A woman with a voice is a powerful force in the world and that is why women must Keep speaking the truth and making a difference wherever we are.

“We must recognize the invaluable contributions of women to our society and work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable environment

“We must work together to break down the barriers that prevent women from realizing their dreams, let us strive to create a world where women are valued, respected, and empowered to make a positive impact.” She urged

To all the women who make the world a better place with their love, courage, and kindness, this day is for you! The future belongs to women who believe in their dreams because they will Keep shining and continue breaking barriers.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us renew our commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women to reach their full potential.”

As part of the celebrations, Hon. Adekanmbi announced plans to launch initiatives aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality in Oyo West Local Government.

These initiatives will focus on providing training and economic empowerment opportunities for women, as well as promoting awareness and advocacy on gender-based issues.

Hon. Adekanmbi’s however, call for greater gender equality resonates with the global theme of International Women’s Day, which emphasizes the importance of promoting women’s empowerment and challenging discriminatory practices.
