An early swift response from the Oyo State Fire Service personnel averted a petrol tanker explosion in Olope Marun along Oyo/Ogbomoso, as a fire outbreak razed a private residential building, RSD shopping complex, and Yido Bus stop respectively in Ibadan, the State capital.
The Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service Agency, who doubles as the Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, who confirmed the incident, said the agency also averted the spread of the fire to opposite residents, shops, and communities.

According to the statement made available to our correspondence, it reads in part; “In the early hours of Thursday, February 27, 2025, Oyo State Fire Service control, Ogbomoso Command received a distress call to a petrol tanker accident at Olope Marun along Ogbomoso/Oyo Road.”


The fire personnel led by ACFS Dairo promptly deployed to the scene of that incident and arrived at the scene on time.
He stressed that they met a Mack trailer tanker with 50,000 liters of PMS that lost control whilst in motion, swerved off the road, and detached from the head cow, contents gushing out.

They swing into action by carpeting the area with foam compounds to avoid fire disasters and still at work.
At Araromi Oluilu Zone, Ayegun Oloju Oro Road, Ibadan. The report of Fire was reported at exactly 11:20hrs on Thursday, 27th February 2025, through telephoning to the house on fire at the above address.
However, the Agency’s personnel promptly deployed to the scene of the incident. On arrival, it was a private residential building with three bedrooms. The fire was extinguished, and the building was affected by fire, and other nearby buildings were protected by the officers.
Furthermore, a report of a Fire Incident was attended at RSD Shopping Complex, Adeji Ogungbade, Ibadan on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
The Agency’s control room center received a distressed call to the shopping Complex Adeji Ogungbade.

The fire personnel led by ACFS Olubunmi left for the scene and arrived at the place where an upper floor of a Storey complex was engulfed by fire.
Professionally, the team swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire not to affect the ground floor and other nearby properties.
A Team of policemen from Adegbayi Police were on the ground to provide security measures. No casualty was recorded, the upper floor of the complex was destroyed by fire and the ground floor and other nearby buildings were protected against the devastating fire.
Equally, the firefighter engulfed House on Fire at Yido Bus stop behind Army Barracks, Ojoo, Ibadan.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, confirmed the incident and said the agency received a fire call at exactly 16:29 hrs on Thursday, 27th February 2025, through telephoning the house on fire at the stated address.

Immediately, the fire personnel led by ACFS Olayiwola promptly deployed to the scene of the incident and arrived on time. Akinwande affirmed.
“On arrival they met a kitchen of a bungalow five (5) bedrooms flat on fire and quickly swung into action, restricting the fire from spreading to the other parts of the building.
According to the fire investigation conducted, the eyewitness made us understand that the fire incident was a result of cooking with domestic gas unattended to.

No casualty was recorded, and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the fire service.
In a nutshell, residents of Ogbomoso and Ibadan have expressed their gratitude to His Excellency Engr ‘Seyi Makinde FNSE for equipping the State Fire Service with modern technology to prevent what could have been a disaster.
