Why I Quit NNPP —Olopoeyan

The Ibadan-based politician, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan has said, It was a personal decision to resign from New Nigerian People’s Party.

Olopoeyan explained that “recent developments in NNPP and his personal conflict with the presidential candidate ” were not responsible for his resignation from the party.

The seasoned politician on Monday during a radio program ” Gabgba Lasaata with the popular presenter, Abiodun Adewale on Splash 105.5fm station on Ibadan.

Olopoeyan narrated his journey in NNPP as well as boost of his positive impact within his two and half journey in the party.

” Nobody can push me out of the party except those whose lives I choose to frustrate. My departure was not due to any conflict with Kwankwaso. I had no disagreement with the party’s founder, Chief Boniface Aniebonam, whom I acknowledged in my resignation letter. Kwankwaso and I joined the party together from the PDP.

” I left the NNPP because there is a time for everything. My journey in the NNPP has come to an end, and it is time for me to return to where I truly belong. I gave my best and made my mark in the NNPP. While we may not have won any elective position, I succeeded in making the party a household name in Oyo State—a feat even acknowledged by the former Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Mutiu Agboke.

” It is important to clarify that Kwankwaso was the founder of Kwankwasiya, not the founder of the NNPP. Before we left the PDP, he invited me, and together with other stakeholders, we formed a group called The Nigeria Movement (TNM). This group was instrumental in negotiating our entry into the NNPP.

” Although I left the NNPP without consulting anyone—I simply woke up one morning and decided to resign—Chief Boniface Aniebonam, the BOT Chairman, sent delegations to persuade me to reconsider. However, my decision was final. When you are significant and impactful, no one wants you to leave. My resignation was sudden; even Governor Seyi Makinde only learned about it after I had left. I am guided by Allah in my decisions, and my followers and supporters trust me and agree with my choice.
