Osun LG Polls: OSSIEC Sets Up Verification Committee

As political parties conclude their primary elections, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has established a high-level verification committee to verify the credentials and documents of nominated candidates for the upcoming local government elections.

According to a statement by Omoyemi Badru, Press Secretary to the OSSIEC Chairman, the committee will be led by Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Olayanju, a retired mathematician from the National Population Commission (NPC), and co-chaired by Mr. Kazeem Adeniyi Olatokun, a retired banker and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) from Ede, Osun State.

The committee’s secretary is Mrs. Iyabo Olaniyi, a seasoned legal practitioner with over 15 years of experience from Ikire. Other members include Mr. Samson Abiola Amure, a retired local government staff from Ilesa; Mrs. Hanifat Adenike Adediran, a scientist from Ile-Ife; and Mrs. Olubisi Temitope Onifade, a graduate of English Language from Boluwaduro.

Additional members include Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko, a retired deputy state auditor-general from Ikire; Mrs. Abolaji Atolagbe, a staff of the Osun State Judiciary from Ila; Mr. Adebayo Wasiu, a retired zonal inspector of education from Iwo; and Mrs. Rofiyat Bayonle Babatunde from Ikirun, among others. Abisola Ariwodola will represent the NUJ/NAWOJ, and representatives from the Osun Internal Revenue Services (OIRS) will also join the committee.

The committee is expected to be inaugurated soon, with the date to be announced by the Chairman of the Commission.
