The executive chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has constituted a 15-man committee to oversee the distribution of federal government palliative grains, including maize and gari, allocated to the 33 local governments in Oyo State.

This directive follows instructions from Barrister Bayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo State.

Hon. Olufade, who chairs the committee, emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the distribution process.

He urged the committee members to ensure that the palliatives reach the intended beneficiaries without any form of bias or mismanagement.

“There will be proper monitoring to ensure that the grains are distributed accordingly,” Olufade stated.

The committee comprises representatives from various sectors, including:

  1. Chairman of the Local Government himself
  2. Local Emergency Management Committee (DES)
  3. Traditional Rulers
  4. Department of State Services (DSS)
  5. Nigerian Police Force
  6. Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps
  7. Faith-Based Organizations (JNI & CAN)
  8. National Union of Local Government Employees
  9. Nigerian Red Cross Society
  10. Women Associations
  11. Persons with Disability Groups
  12. Youth Associations
  13. Principals of Boarding Schools
  14. Civil Society Organizations
  15. Media

Hon. Olufade has adhered strictly to the distribution template to ensure transparency and accountability, sharing it with the various stakeholders for proper implementation.

The grains were distributed to the stakeholders at the premises of Ibadan North Local Government in the presence of the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Akeem Olatunji; Director of Administration and General Services, Alhaji Alabi Lukman Kolawole; Alhaja Najimdeen Qudrat; Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs. Lala Olufunke; Head of Information, and a host of others.

This marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to support vulnerable populations during these challenging times.
