The Chairman-elect of Oyo East local government Hon Oluokun Peter Olusola and his vice Hon. Wasiu Mustapha Waspha, have expressed gratitude to the Governor of Oyo State Engr Seyi Makinde, Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu, and all stakeholders, party faithful for the overwhelming support that led to their victory at the poll.
It would be recalled that the election was held on Saturday, April 27th by the Oyo State Independence Electoral Commission, (OYSIEC) where the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Oyo East Council area emerged victorious with a whopping 27,567 votes, to defeat his opponent from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the good people of Oyo East Local Government for the opportunity given to him, Oluokun added that they have spoken loudly and clearly with their votes. Saying the mandate given to him marked the beginning of the true challenge ahead and promised not to disappoint them by reposing confidence in him and trooping out to vote for him.
He said; “As you all know, my only reason for running was to make a difference by the spreading dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of Oyo East”.
Furthermore, Oluokun described His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde as a democrat, exceptional leader, and pioneer Governor in the history of Oyo state who will conduct local government elections twice peacefully without bias.
He then appreciated His Excellency whose communication style is gentle and calming for his instinctive inclusiveness and sympathy for the poor and the marginalized.
“Thank you Sir for this wonderful privilege you’ve given to me. Words cannot encapsulate the profundity of my gratitude to you. God Almighty will continue to give you more wisdom in pioneering the affairs of Oyo state”.
Equally, expressing heartfelt appreciation to her leader, mother, and mentor, Oluokun added; “There’s this popular saying that “Behind every successful man, there’s a woman”. Aladuke Iya mi, there’s no doubt that you’re truly the hero of the great success story. You’ve forever changed my life and I will never forget you.
“A woman of the people and for the people, a visionary leader, an ebullient, dogged fighter who stood firmly by us from the beginning to the end”.
“Mummy, we appreciate your untiring sacrificial role, effectiveness, unwavering support, and commitment to achieving this mandate. Ma, your leadership style has made a significant impact in the lives of many and most especially, my own life”. He said.
“You’re indeed a great and notable leader. He quoted! May God continue to bless, grant you a long and healthy life, and continue to prosper you and all that pertains to you in Jesus’ Name, Amen”.
He also lauded the DG of the campaign and all other members of the Campaign Council, party chairman, leaders, stakeholders, and faithful party members for the great job done by not just delivering the chairman and his vice, but also delivering all the 10 councilors.
“You have done your part in electing us, it’s now our time to work hard for you all and transform Oyo East Local Government leaving no one behind. As I promised during our electioneering campaign I will replicate the good governance of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde at the state level to the grassroots level. I will not renege on my electioneering campaign promises”.
“I humbly appreciate the responsibility bestowed upon me, and I must work towards the individual and collective welfare of our members. I implore all our members to leave the past behind and focus on promoting what unites us as a family. To those who have remained steadfast, I kindly request that we extend a warm welcome to our returning brothers and sisters”.
