NPFL: 3SC Skipper Malomo, Pyagbara’s Goals Dim Sunshine Stars

A brilliant second half display, was capped with two well taken goals as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) subdued 10-man Sunshine Stars of Akure in a Matchday 32 encounter.

Backers of the Oluyole Warriors, who filled the stands in their large numbers, had to wait till the second half to jubilate, thanks to skipper Malomo Toafeek and Christian Pyagbara’s goals.

The Akure gunners made life difficult for the Ibadan soccer lords in the first half, producing the best chances of the half and prevented the Oluyole Warriors from making hay.

Sunshine Stars would have gone ahead early in the game but goalkeeper Odah Okemute’s sharp reflexes denied the Kennedy Boboye tutored visitors from scoring.

The 3SC goalie had to stretch to stopTunji Adeniji and Duke Osimaga’s efforts early in the game.

With the first half ending goalless, the coach Gbenga ga Ogunbote tutored Oluyole Warriors found their bearing in the second half as they pounced on the visitors for the opener.

Sunshine Stars were reduced to 10-men when Mafeng Pam was expelled after collecting a second yellow card.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 56th minute when skipper Malomo Taofeek hit the target off a corner kick.

With a minute left to regulation time, Christian Pyagbara put the game beyond the Owena Whales, with the second goal in the , aftet he was set on by Alex Aghahowa.

With the Southwest derby win, the Ibadan soccer lords have jumped to the fourth position on the log, with 52 points from 32 matches.

Meanwhile, hardworking defensive midfielder, Alex Aghahowa emerged the Club Player of the match, smiling home with the sun of one hundred thousand naira (100,000), courtesy of the Nigerian Breweries Limited (NBL).
