Ahead of the April 27 local government election, Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has urged the electorates to vote for their preferred candidates.
Nothing that the election will make it the second time his government has conducted a council poll in less than five years, the governor recalled that the previous administration did not conduct local government elections for seven years out of its eight-year tenure.
Makinde advised while receiving top government functionaries and dignitaries, who paid him Sallah’s homage at his Ikolaba residence.

The visitors were led by Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal.

Slamming the opposition, the governor said the past administration could not organize council polls for seven out of its eight-year tenure and should not accuse his government of insincerity if they (Opposition) would not praise him.
He said the election was not a do-or-die affair, adding that the people were at Liberty to vote for leaders of their choice.
Makinde said; “Let me take this opportunity to say that local government elections are barely three weeks away. I want to tell our people that, please election is not a do-or-die affair. It is whosoever the people want that they will elect.
“When people go out and accuse us of insincerity, these are people who didn’t conduct an election for almost eight years. This is the second local government election we are organizing under this administration.
“Let us intensify our campaign. Thai administration is all about the interest of the people. And the people know the difference between federal, state, and local elections”.
