Residents of Kajola-Irede-Odinjo-Alake Academy were in a joyous mood today, as the federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/SouthEast constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin flagged off construction of the 1.6km longest abandoned road in Ibadan North East area of Oyo State.
The event was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life including Kajola-Irede community leaders, Odinjo Academy landlord association, members of the People’s Democratic Party, Ward Chairmen, political leaders, and several others
Heritage Echo News correspondence affirmed that the project which was awarded to Bamidele Engineering Nigeria Limited at a sum of One Billion Naira (1,000,000,000) for a completion period of three months, would improve accessibility and connectivity enabling the smooth flow of goods and services, thereby reducing the transportation time and cost. This, in turn, makes the goods and services more accessible to a larger audience, leading to increased trade and commerce.
Earlier in his address at the flag-off ceremony, Rep Abass Agboworin encouraged the people to give the contractor the needed support to see that the project is completed in due time without any hitches.
He explained that the project was part of his commitment to complement Governor Makinde’s efforts in infrastructural development and improving the socio-economic activities of the state while reiterating his vows to fulfill promises made during the electioneering period in different sectors, as well as noting the importance of Infrastructure as the backbone is a thriving society.
While acknowledging the productive role of the Speaker of the federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abass Ph.D in bringing the substantial road project to fruition, Rep Abass Adigun Agboworin further assured the residents of quality motorable road aimed to improve their standards of living.
In his words; “I thank God today for this event, being the flag off of 1.6km road construction. I know that this project, which would benefit a lot of people within the community, is very important to us because it will reduce the traffic congestion from Olomi to Odinjo and Eleta.
“This project is for the community and everyone. I am not embarking on it because I am a member of the People’s Democratic Party. No. As far as I am concerned, it will also be useful for other people from other parties.
“I want to also thank everyone who has supported us from the beginning to this moment because I have been on it for the past two years and, today, I thank God and those he has used to bring the project to fruition.
“By the time we are done within the space of three months, we will still invite everyone to join us in the commissioning of the project “.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr. Salawu Ayinde Ramat Olaniyan, Jelili Ishola, and other community leaders expressed their unreserved appreciation for the road promising that they will forever continue to give their 100% support to the federal lawmaker without any fear of intimidation adding that he is the only elected individual capable of attracting such monumental projects.
Also, Mr. Ibrahim Ayoola a professional fashion designer hailed the federal lawmaker for putting smiles on the faces of his constituents noting that road construction is a crucial aspect of modern society and has a significant impact on various aspects of human life. He noted that it wasn’t a project done out of sight but a project put in place due to the untold hardship caused by the dilapidated state of the road to the members of the community.
The project manager, Usman Olawale, indicated his company’s interest in completing the job with quality materials, will be the best considering the time frame given to them.
