Member representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, has mourned the late 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.

The late monarch, who reigned for two years, joined his ancestors late Thursday evening at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, at the age of 82.

Agboworin, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, in a statement made available to journalists by his Media Group in Ibadan, on Friday, expressed his condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general, praying that God would grant repose to the soul of the deceased monarch.

He equally sympathized with the late monarch’s brother, Senator Kola Balogun, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District at the 9th Senate and the immediate family members.

While saying that the late Olubadan ruled with the fear of God, led his people with utmost diligence and unassuming dedication, the lawmaker commended his strong adherence for peace, progress and development of Ibadanland.

The statement read, “The sudden news of Olubadan’s passing came to me as a rude shock. This is really a great loss to the family, Ibadanland and Oyo State.

“On behalf of our constituency, I want to extend my condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council and the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general.

“In this moment of grief, I want to also sympahtize with the late monarch’s brother, and my own very good brother too, Senator Kola Balogun, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District at the 9th Senate, including other immediate family members of the late Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.

“Within the two years of his reign, he made indelible marks on the sands of history and achieved greatly. He was very honest, bold and courageous. He ruled with the fear of God and was always after the unity, progress and development of Ibadanland.

“It is my prayer that God grants repose to the soul of our late monarch even as he left indelibe legacy that would echo through the corridors of time.”
