A 43tlrd minute goal, was enough to earn Enyimba FC of Aba all points against hard fighting Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan in Saturday’s NPFL Matchday 20 encounter.

The energy sapping encounter saw the two sides throwing everything they had into the game.

Determined to avenge the 1-2 first round loss to the People’s Elephants, the coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored lads took the fight to their hosts from the blast of the referee’s whistle

Backed by their vociferous fans, Enyimba fought hard to cage the Oluyole Warriors but found their defensive network difficult to break, while goalkeeper Okemute Odah put up a sterling performance as he denied the People’s Elephants on number of occasions.

The Oluyole Warriors were unlucky not to have gone ahead in the 41st minute, as Alex Aghahowa ‘s well taken shot came off the woodwork only for Enyimba defenders to clear the ball before any Shooting Stars’ player could pounce on a rebound.

Few minutes after, 43rd minute to be precise, a low cross into the vital area by Eze Ekwuzotiam, was scrambled into the net by Ayodeji Bamidele, whose attempted clearance sailed into the net.

That goal turned out to be the only goal of the day, as every efforts by the Oluyole Warriors to level up in the second half was thwarted by the homers.

Shooting Stars’ next match is a trip to Jos for a Matchday 21 fixture against Plateau United next Sunday.
