A political group within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), known as the Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde Team (TOMT) Atiba local government chapter, has officially endorsed the candidacy of Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, and his running mate, Badmus Olaide Ismail.
During their weekly meeting at L. A Primary School, Saabo, Oyo, the Atiba T.O.M.T coordinator, Hon. Oseni Afeez, praised the chairmanship candidate and his campaign council for accepting the group’s invitation as council elections draw nearer.
He described Hon. Wabkem as the ideal candidate to revitalize the royal council and restore the positive legacy of the Atiba council area through various democratic dividends, fostering unity among factions, advancing infrastructure, and promoting nation-building via effective grassroots governance.
“In these critical times, the party requires a stabilizing force with a profound understanding of grassroots governance issues. We pledge our support to your candidate and vow to campaign vigorously across the Royal council.”
“Wabkem has consistently brought joy to the residents of Atiba even before aspiring for chairmanship. He is a dedicated party member, the people’s choice, and a politician known for his compassion,” he stated.
He also called for a closer working relationship with the campaign council committee to ensure a resounding victory in the forthcoming council elections.
Additionally, Mr. Kareem Tijani commended the exceptional leadership qualities of the chairmanship candidate, heralding a new era in Atiba and guaranteeing the members the rewards of democracy.
“Atiba PDP stands to gain significantly from his intellect and administrative acumen, which have been demonstrated during his tenure as Councilor under the late Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala regime.”
Mama Olaiya Muritala assured the candidate’s entourage of the group’s full support, promising to ensure PDP’s massive victory across units and wards.
She also urged the candidate to prioritize women’s concerns in his governance manifesto when elected.
Earlier in his address, the Director-general of the campaign council, Hon. Oyeleke Gabriel Olusegun, commended the T.O.M.T group, affirming their integral role in the campaign council committee.
He urged them to continue spreading the message of the party’s democratic ideals throughout the Royal council, emphasizing that Atiba T.O.M.T stands to benefit greatly from Wabkem/Olaide leadership.
Mrs. Nurat Lola Alao, the Royal Council women leader, applauded the group’s dedication to good governance and solicited their support for the chairmanship candidate to secure a landslide victory.
She expressed satisfaction with the group’s readiness to engage in grassroots campaigning for PDP’s success.
In his remarks, Vice Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Badmus Olaide Ismail, commended T.O.M.T Atiba chapter for upholding the legacy of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde, urging unity and constructive communication within the group.
He assured them of welfare support and empowerment opportunities.
Alhaji Olanrewaju Muhammed, speaking on behalf of the state party executives, promised the members significant democratic dividends.
Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem expressed gratitude for the group’s endorsement, outlining his vision for the local government, focusing on infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
He stressed the importance of collaboration with stakeholders and promised a participatory governance system at the grassroots level, ensuring the people’s voices are heard in decision-making processes.
