As an expert, the dire situation of the dearth of materials in Government Technical Colleges (GTCs) in Oyo State necessitates urgent attention from the Executive Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde. It is crucial to highlight the appeal for immediate intervention and the pressing need to revive GTCs as vocational schools in order to provide invaluable opportunities for building the minds of young individuals.

First and foremost, it is essential to emphasize the importance of vocational education in building the minds and skills of young individuals. GTCs play a crucial role in equipping students with practical knowledge and skills that are necessary for the workforce. By promoting and investing in these vocational schools, we are not only nurturing young talents, but also contributing to the overall development and growth of Oyo State.

To address the dearth of materials, I appeal to our God-given governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to kindly take immediate action. This can be achieved through the allocation of sufficient funds and resources specifically aimed at revitalizing GTCs in Oyo State. Adequate provision of modern equipment, tools, and machinery will ensure that students have access to the necessary resources to enhance their hands-on learning experience.

Besides, GTCs in Oyo State can also serve as a solution to the prevailing issue of youth restiveness and social vices. By providing a platform for practical education and skill acquisition, these schools offer an alternative path for young individuals who may not be inclined towards traditional academic pursuits. By channeling their energy and talents into technical and vocational fields, they can discover their potential, find purpose, and contribute positively to society.

Furthermore, it is essential to prioritize the training and capacity-building of teachers and staff within GTCs. Investing in professional development programs and workshops will enable educators to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology and pedagogical methodologies. This, in turn, will enhance the quality of education and ensure that students are well-prepared for the evolving demands of the job market.

On the appeal to revive GTCs in Oyo State as vocational schools, it is on importance to highlight the long-term benefits this will bring to the state.

Reviving and developing GTCs will not only address the dearth of materials and resources but will also create a conducive environment for students to learn, explore their interests, and ultimately contribute to the socio-economic growth of Oyo State. In addition, it will encourage more young individuals to pursue careers in the technical and vocational fields, reducing unemployment rates and fostering entrepreneurship.

I am on my knees with both palms being rubbed together before our-always-inclined-on-acadenics governor to look into the ugly situations and conditions of all five Government Technical Colleges in our dear Oyo State.

In conclusion, Engineer Seyi Makinde’s urgent attention to the dearth of materials in Government Technical Colleges in Oyo State is crucial in order to revitalize these institutions as vocational schools.

By allocating necessary resources, engaging stakeholders, and investing in teacher training, the government can provide students with a high-quality education and equip them with the skills required for future success.

Reviving Government Technical Colleges (GTCs) will not only benefit the students but also contribute to the overall development of Oyo State.
