Hon. Olorunpoto Rahaman Cephas, the Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Oyo East/West State constituency, expresses condolences to constituents, residents, and family members on the passing of the esteemed diplomat and administrator, Otun of Oyo land, High Chief Moses Oyedele Ogunmola.

In a statement issued to Heritage Echo News, the lawmaker describes the late Moses Ogunmola as a universal father figure, transcending gender and political affiliations. He acknowledges that the departure of Chief Ogunmola creates an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew him and the Oyo community he served with unwavering dedication.

He reminisces, “Baba was installed as the Otun of Oyo, concurrently with my grandmother, Late Chief (Ms) Oyinlola Ogunmola, who became the Iyalaje of the Oyo empire under the reign of late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.”

Reflecting on his father’s (High Chief Moses Oyedele Ogunmola) impact, the lawmaker emphasizes the widespread influence, offering guidance, employment opportunities, and contributing significantly to the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage, akin to the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.

Highlighting Chief Ogunmola’s substantial contributions to Oyo’s development, Olorunpoto describes him as a consummate elder statesman who played pivotal roles in Oyo town and Nigeria at large. He lauds Chief Ogunmola as a true icon, setting an example through loyalty, integrity, rich cultural heritage, impeccable character, trustworthiness, and a paternal figure to all.

The Oyo lawmaker takes the opportunity to commend the late icon’s children—Mr. Oyeniyi Ogunmola, Dr. Oluranti Ogunmola, and others—for their significant contributions to the development of the Oyo empire.

In conclusion, he asserts, “His legacy lives on. Rest In Peace, Baba OTUN.
