Makinde, Other Govs Meet For NEC In Abuja

…As Oyo among 7 states to enjoy from multi million dollar Special Agro Industrial Processing Zone program

The members of the National Economic Council on Thursday met at the presidential villa, Abuja for their monthly programme.

The meeting which was presided over by the vice president, Senator Kashim Shettimah, was attended by Governors from the states of the federation including the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, who was ably represented by his deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal.

The meeting among other issues received presentations on specialised Agric processing zones, concept note on Nigeria Natural Catastrophe and Livestock Insurance Scheme as well as Renewing National Compact to improve Health and Human Capital.

It equally revealed that Oyo State is among the seven participating states and federal capital Territory that would enjoy from the multi million dollar Special Agro Industrial Processing Zone program.

The project which would be jointly funded by the federal government and multilateral institutions such as the African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank,IMF, is aimed at supporting inclusive and sustainable agro industrial development in Nigeria.

The programme will provide no fewer than five hundred thousand Nigerians job opportunities.

It will also support one hundred thousand farmers in the participating states and bring about a reduction in food importation by 80%.
