The Campaign Council of Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji (KSA), the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of making unfounded allegations against its candidate over the alleged pasting of campaign posters on a billboard belonging to an APC House of Assembly candidate.

The APM Campaign Council, in a statement issued in response to the publication circulated by the APC, described the allegation as misleading and an attempt to gain cheap publicity by dragging the name of Engr. Sheu into an unnecessary controversy.

The council maintained that its campaign team operates in accordance with established principles of political decorum, respect for public and private property, and responsible campaign practices.

According to the statement, the team responsible for distributing and pasting campaign posters has been given clear guidelines to ensure that its activities remain within the bounds of the law and acceptable political conduct.

It further stated that there had been no verified report or formal complaint against its team over alleged unethical poster placement, insisting that the campaign organisation remained committed to peaceful and issue-based political engagement.

The council also reaffirmed that all APM candidates across Ido and Ibarapa East Federal Constituency were law-abiding and responsible politicians who understood the importance of conducting their campaigns with dignity and respect for other political parties.

Reacting to the allegation involving the APC candidate’s billboard, the campaign council questioned the circumstances surrounding the publication, suggesting that the images circulated could have been deliberately staged to create a misleading impression against Engr. Sheu and his campaign organisation.

It described the development as an outdated political tactic allegedly aimed at distracting attention from substantive campaign issues and creating unnecessary controversy around the APM candidate.

The council, however, maintained that the allegation would not distract Engr. Sheu from his campaign efforts or weaken the growing support he enjoys across communities in Ido and Ibarapa East.

Highlighting what it described as the growing acceptance of the APM candidate, the statement said the popular chant of “SHEU, SHEU, SHEU” across various communities reflected the enthusiasm of supporters who believed in his aspiration to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.

The campaign council contrasted the reception enjoyed by the APM candidate with what it described as growing public dissatisfaction with the APC, citing the expression “BAMAYI,” which it interpreted as a declaration by voters that they were no longer willing to continue with the party.

It consequently advised the APC leadership in Ibarapa East to concentrate on engaging the electorate with its programmes, policies and achievements rather than making allegations involving Engr. Sheu.

The council stressed that the people of Ido and Ibarapa East deserved issue-driven campaigns that addressed their needs and aspirations, rather than political exchanges capable of diverting attention from the critical questions of representation and development.

Reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful and issue-based campaign, the APM Campaign Council expressed confidence that voters would make informed decisions based on the credibility, capacity and programmes of the candidates seeking their mandate in the 2027 general elections.

It added that Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji and his team remained focused on reaching more communities, strengthening engagement with residents and presenting their vision for effective representation, insisting that no controversy would derail their campaign.
