For Hon. Saheed Arowosaye, popularly known as AROSAD, the Chairman Pacesetter Mineral Development Company, leadership has always been rooted in service, loyalty and grassroots development.

Over the years, the former Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government has established himself as a committed party man and grassroots mobiliser whose political journey has been defined by dedication to the people and unwavering support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision for Oyo State.

His latest appointment as Deputy State Coordinator of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) 2027 Presidential Campaign is widely regarded as another recognition of his experience in party administration, grassroots mobilisation and public leadership.

Born into the respected family of Alhaji Ganiyu Akano Arowosaye Family, Arosad describes himself as a family man whose public service has been guided by faith in Almighty Allah, humility and a passion for serving humanity.

Reflecting on his journey, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has enjoyed in public office, beginning with his appointment as Caretaker Chairman of Oyo East Local Government from December 2019 to 2021 before subsequently earning the mandate of the people as the elected Executive Chairman.

“I give glory to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve as Caretaker Chairman from December 2019 to 2021 and later as the elected Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government,” he said.

He reserved special appreciation for Governor Seyi Makinde, whom he described as the leader who gave him the platform to demonstrate his leadership qualities and commitment to public service.

“I owe a debt of gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde, my principal, who gave me the opportunity to showcase my ability, serve my people and demonstrate my capacity. I will forever remain grateful to him,” Arowosaye said.

According to him, his political journey has always been centred on strengthening party structures and contributing meaningfully to the development of his political family.

He said he remained actively involved in the affairs of the Party at the grassroots, state and national levels, playing key roles in promoting the ideals and programmes of the party throughout his years of active political engagement. And promised to do the same for the APM.

His tenure as Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government was tested by one of the most devastating incidents in the council’s history which was the fire outbreak that destroyed the popular Akeesan Market.

Describing the incident as one of the most painful moments of his administration, Arowosaye recalled the emotional trauma and economic losses suffered by traders.

“It was a terrible and trying period for us. The fire caused emotional pain and enormous losses for our people,” he recalled.

Determined not to allow the tragedy define his administration, he said the council immediately commenced efforts to rebuild the market with the support of the Oyo State Government.

Despite doubts expressed in some quarters, the administration successfully reconstructed the Akeesan Market into a modern facility, restoring hope and confidence to hundreds of traders whose means of livelihood had been affected.

“Many people believed it could not be done, but with the support of Governor Seyi Makinde and the grace of God, we restored the glory of Akeesan Market by rebuilding it to a modern standard. Throughout that difficult period, we stood firmly with the traders and the people,” he said.

Beyond infrastructure, Arowosaye identified security as one of the major priorities of his administration.

He explained that regular security meetings involving critical stakeholders became a cornerstone of his efforts to maintain peace and safeguard lives and property across Oyo East Local Government.

According to him, inclusive leadership and collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders helped strengthen security and deepen public confidence in the local government.

Looking back on his years in office, the former council chairman said the opportunity to serve remained one of the greatest privileges of his life.

“I thank Governor Seyi Makinde, our party leaders, members of the Peoples Democratic Party and the good people of Oyo East for giving me the opportunity to serve. I pray that God continues to guide and strengthen everyone committed to the progress of our state,” he said.

His commitment to grassroots politics and public service has now earned him another strategic responsibility.

As part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, Governor Seyi Makinde, the Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), appointed Hon. Saheed Arowosaye as Deputy State Coordinator of the APM 2027 Presidential Campaign in Oyo State.

Announced by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the appointment places Arowosaye among the key leaders responsible for coordinating and strengthening the party’s presidential campaign across the state.

For many, the appointment is a testament to Arowosaye’s years of loyalty, grassroots mobilisation and proven leadership.

From steering Oyo East Local Government through challenging moments, including the rebuilding of Akeesan Market, to earning another strategic role in the state’s political structure, Hon. Saheed Arowosaye continues to build a reputation as a leader whose public service is anchored on humility, resilience, loyalty and an enduring commitment to the people.
