The newly installed 15 traditional rulers in Oyo town, alongside councillors from Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government Areas, have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing rehabilitation of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex in Oyo, describing the project as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the ancient city.

The royal fathers and councillors made the commendation on Tuesday, during an inspection tour of the project site, where they assessed the level of work and interacted with the project consultant and contractors handling the rehabilitation of the healthcare facilities.
The traditional ruler are; Alaaguo of Aguoland, Oba David Oyediran; the Baba Eyaji of Oyo, Oba Afonja Mukaila; the Alajagba of Oyo, Oba Samuel Odurinde; the Ona-Isokun of Oyo, Oba Isiaka Tella-Titiloye; the Onimileke of Imileke, Oyo, Oba Fakayode Alowonle; the Onigbudugbu of Gbudugbu, Oyo, Oba Salawu Oyeniran; the Oloodu of Ojongbodu, Oba Olaniyi Adegboye; and the Alapa-Ara of Apa-Ara, Oba Tijani Ajeigbe.


Others are the Onidode of Idodeland, Oba Oyeleke Yusuff; the Iba Samu of Oyo Empire, Oba Lamidi Jimoh; the Alago-Oja of Ago-Oja Land, Oba Ganiyu Busari; the Agbaaki of Oyo, Oba Asimiyu Jimoh; the Alakeitan of Akeitan, Oba Jimoh Oyeleye; and the Elepe of Iseke, Oba Abel Oyekan.

They lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritising the revitalisation of critical healthcare infrastructure across Oyo State, noting that the rehabilitation of the hospital annex demonstrates the administration’s commitment to improving access to quality and affordable healthcare services.


The delegation also commended the project consultant for ensuring quality execution and adherence to professional standards, expressing confidence that the project would be delivered within the stipulated timeframe.

Speaking during the inspection, His Royal Highness Oba Samu, Oba Lamidi Oyewale, described the hospital rehabilitation as a landmark intervention that would strengthen medical services for residents of Oyo and neighbouring communities.
He urged the contractors to maintain the pace of work and uphold the highest standards of quality until completion.

Also, the Elepe of Iseke land, Oba Abel Olufemi Oyekan, applauded His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde for the good work his administration embarked on since its inception in 2019, turning all zones into construction sites.
According to him, “to whom much is given, much is expected, nobody is opposing this laudable project, the whole land of Oyo is happy, and we’ll reciprocate it in a good manner,” he assured.

He, however, lauded the project consultant, Hon. Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi AROSAD, for the wonderful project done so far, noting that the work shows his professionalism, like the way he reconstructed the modern Akesan market, and recommended him to any individuals who may need his services, assuring excellent delivery of projects.
Equally, the councillor’s representative who doubles as the leader of the House, Oyo West legislative arm, Rt. Hon. Abdul Rahman Akintunde reaffirmed their support for the Makinde-led administration, stating that the project reflects the government’s resolve to deliver impactful and people-oriented development across the state.

They expressed optimism that, upon completion, the rehabilitated LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex would significantly improve healthcare service delivery, create a more conducive environment for patients and healthcare workers, and further position Oyo town as a key hub for quality medical services in the state.

Speaking during the inspection, the Project Consultant, Hon. Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi (AROSAD), described the rehabilitation of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex, Oyo, as a historic intervention that has revived a public health facility abandoned for nearly 15 years.
According to him, the once-dilapidated structure had remained dormant until the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde embarked on its rehabilitation with the vision of transforming it into a modern teaching hospital annex that meets international standards.
AROSAD disclosed that the project has attained approximately 70 per cent completion, expressing confidence that the remaining 30 per cent would be executed diligently and delivered within the stipulated timeframe.
He stressed that the development of the ancient city of Oyo should transcend political affiliations, urging all stakeholders to set aside their differences and unite in support of projects that advance the collective interest of the town.
“This project is about the progress and future of Oyo, not politics. Every son and daughter of Oyo should see it as a collective responsibility to monitor, inspect, and support this laudable initiative for the benefit of Oyo Alaafin and generations yet unborn,” he said.
The project consultant also commended the newly installed traditional rulers for their exemplary leadership and commitment to the growth and development of Oyo township, noting that their dedication to the welfare of the people has continued to inspire confidence among residents.
He further acknowledged the various groups and organisations that have visited the project site to assess the quality and progress of work, including the Oyo Global Forum, Oyo Metropolitan Development Council, and members of the Oyo Forum, Abuja, describing their inspections and continued interest as a demonstration of the collective resolve to ensure sustainable development in the ancient city.
