Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is currently holding a closed-door meeting with former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The meeting, which is ongoing at the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, was conducted away from the media, fueling political speculation about its significance and possible implications for the evolving dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Though details of the discussion are yet to be known at press time but sources within the Oyo State Government hinted that the engagement centered on national issues, governance priorities, and the need for strategic collaboration among like-minded political leaders concerned about the direction of the country.

Westernmirror.com.ng reports that the meeting comes at a time of increasing political consultations among opposition figures across party lines, amid conversations about building a wider coalition capable of challenging the ruling party in future elections.

Governor Makinde, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has in recent months advocated for issue-based politics and greater unity among leaders committed to national development.

Similarly, Obi has maintained a visible presence in national discourse, consistently engaging stakeholders on economic reforms, governance accountability, and inclusive leadership.

As of the time of filing this report, it remains unclear whether the ongoing closed door meeting would culminate in any formal political alliance or statement.

Details shortly…
