PDP Convention: Another Appeal Court Grants All Parties Involved Leave for Settlement

Justice Biobele Goergewill led 3 man panel of the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan has granted all parties involved in the Elective convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) case leave for settlement.

Also, the matter has been adjourned on the resolve of the counsel to both parties to proceed on settlement process.

Justice Georgewill, at the sitting on Wednesday urged the parties being represented by their various counsels to be mindful of the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) on the 2027 general elections.

He advised the counsel of all the parties being represented in the suit filed at the appelate counsel on the peaceful resolution of the case in the interest of the party.

According to him, the Court has granted leave for settlement in this matter.

“Also the case has been adjourned sine dine in order to give all the parties to meet either individually or collectively on how to resolve the case pending before the appelate court peacefully.

‘All the parties involved should be mindful of the Election timetable as released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

‘The counsel of the various parties being represented here are in the best position to advise the parties that the are representing.

‘The Court should be duly informed through writing of the decision reached whether they agreed or disagreed on the term of settlement.

‘To this end, all the pending Motion on Notice on this case has been adjourned sine dine.

Meanwhile, all the counsel in their various submissions aligned with the position of the court on the matter.

Speaking on behalf of other counsel in a sideline interview, Sunday Ibrahim SAN said, the parties have shown their willingness to settle and the Court has adjourned the matter sine dine for the parties to attempt settlement and if they do report back to court.

‘On that note, we make no further comment because same may prejudice the envisioned settlement.

‘The parties involved during its meetings on settlement may discuss a out the INEC timetable and the rest.

On the various Motion on Notice before the Appelate court, Musibau Adetunmbi stated the Court has adjourned all the cases relating to the PDP Elective Convention sine dine.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has imvalidated the Elective Convention of the party held in Ibadan.

Also, the Court in its ruling upheld the decision of the Disciplinary Committee on some of its members.

In another breath, Nigerian Tribune reports that Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo state High Court sitting in Ibadan had in its ruling validated the party’s convention held Ibadan.

The case was instituted by Folahan Malomo Adelabi through Musibau Adetunmbi SAN.
