The Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Alabi, has formally assumed office as Deputy Chairman of the Lagelu Local Government Traditional Council.

High Chief Alabi was received with warm commendations on Tuesday at the Lagelu Local Government Secretariat by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru, and key members of his administration.

In his remarks, the council chairman described the appointment of the respected high chief as a timely and strategic decision that would further strengthen the traditional institution and deepen cooperation between the council and the traditional leadership in Lagelu.

The Executive Chairman expressed confidence that High Chief Lekan Alabi’s wealth of experience, particularly as a senior traditional title holder in Ibadanland, would bring immense value to the traditional council and contribute significantly to the peace and progress of the local government area.

Speaking shortly after assuming duty, High Chief Lekan Alabi charged members of the Lagelu Traditional Council to remain focused on unity and the development of Lagelu land.

He called for sustained and robust collaboration among traditional rulers, political office holders, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure the area continues to enjoy harmony and steady growth.

The assumption of office marks High Chief Alabi’s first official engagement in his capacity as Deputy Chairman of the Lagelu Traditional Council following his appointment.

The development is seen as part of broader efforts in Ibadan to harness the influence and wisdom of respected traditional figures in supporting local governance, cultural preservation, and community development.
