Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as Fire razed a residential building in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Eleha House, Nemo Area, Apata, Ibadan.

The fire incident was a result of electrical appliances being left unattended and ignited combustibles, setting the building ablaze.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.



Akinwande in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News affirmed that the Firefighters led by ACFS Oyeniyi Taofeek immediately mobilized and deployed to the scene.
He said, “On getting there, there was a room on the upper floor of a storey residential building engulfed with flames. Our officers quickly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the ground floor of the building as well as all the nearby buildings and properties.

“No casualty was recorded, the fire incident was a result of electrical appliances plugged unattended and ignited combustibles, and set the building ablaze.
“The firefighters were able to save properties worth millions of naira.
Residents commended the state Governor for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the state fire service in responding to emergencies.
Equally, Hon. Akinwande commended the swift and professional intervention of the fire officers who prevented the situation from escalating into a fire disaster. He also urges the public to always switch off and unplug any electrical appliance not in use. The importance of having fire extinguishers in every household in Oyo State is germane to fire prevention.
