…As opposition must desist in politicizing the health of the people-Dr. Fagbemi

…As the new E-payment initiative improved workers welfare and sustainable healthcare services

The Oyo State Hospital Management Board (OYSHMB) has strongly refuted recent allegations published by a faceless group calling itself the “Concerned Stakeholders for Good Governance in Oyo State.”

The Board described the claims as baseless, malicious, and politically motivated, aimed at undermining reforms and successes in the health sector under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.

The publication alleged mismanagement of revenue and a mass exit of doctors from government hospitals.

However, the Board presented verifiable facts discrediting these allegations while reaffirming its commitment to transparency, service delivery, and best practices.

“The health sector in Oyo State is better than what we inherited from previous administrations. Under Governor Makinde’s leadership, we’ve recruited over 20 doctors in the past year, with 10 new doctors and medical officers joining hospitals in the last two weeks.” Secondary health facilities are rendering better services.

He explained that perceived exit of doctors is part of a wider national and global trend of health worker migration for better opportunities or postgraduate training.

“This isn’t unique to Oyo State; the shortage of doctors is a national problem.”

The Board has a system of replacing any doctor that resigns through an exit replacement policy approved by His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE to prevent shortage of healthcare workers.

Governor Makinde’s provision for exit replacements has enabled the Board to newly recruit over 15 medical officers in just one week.

E-payment System Initiated has plug revenue leakages, enhance accountability, and eliminate financial misconduct.

“The switch to E-payment has tripled revenue collections in state hospitals in the last year. This is verifiable through data from the Office of the Accountant General.” Since E-payment started, the revenue of our facilities has drastically increased, preventing cash collections, which aligns with current best practices.

“No patient should pay cash in government hospitals. Receipts must be issued, and payments must go through the E-payment platform.” Allegations about POS machines and unauthorized accounts are “false and deliberately mischievous.”

OYSHMB has partnered engaged 13 visiting consultants from UCH Ibadan and partnered with 30 universities for clinical training. Medical students from Lead City University rotate through Oyo State hospitals.

The management is ever ready to partner with individuals or groups to ensure better and sustained healthcare delivery to the good people of Oyo State.

“We advise that people should not, because of political interest, mortgage the healthcare sector.

“We are ever ready to ensure a sustainable healthcare delivery in Oyo State Hospitals as captured in Omi tutun 2.0.

The Board urged the public to disregard politically motivated attacks, emphasizing continued focus on quality healthcare delivery despite distractions.
