The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has been recording remarkable achievements under the administration led by Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro since 2021.
Presently, the PDP controls five (5) seats in the Federal House of Representatives, 28 Honourable Members in the Oyo State House of Assembly, and all 33 elected Local Government Executive Chairmen. This, in addition to numerous political office holders at both the state and local government levels, is a testament to the strength of our great party. The credit for this robust political structure goes largely to the pragmatic and visionary leadership of Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde, a leader who deserves to be celebrated every day for keeping the PDP alive and thriving in Oyo State, the South West, and at the national level.
Among those playing critical roles in this success story is Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the State Secretary of the Party. His meticulous contributions cannot be overstated. His unwavering commitment, administrative acumen, and progressive mindset have significantly contributed to the unity and stability of the party in Oyo State.
In recent times, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke initiated Senatorial Meetings across the three senatorial districts, a move that has yielded positive outcomes and reinvigorated the party’s prospects moving forward.
His ongoing local government–by–local government political engagement is fostering rebuilding, restructuring, and reconciliation, helping to mend divisions and reduce factionalism within the party. These engagements also serve as an opportunity for political office holders to give back to the party and its members, ensuring that they receive their due benefits, a move that will undoubtedly enhance unity and strengthen the party’s foundation across all LGAs.
Regardless of whose interest may be affected, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke upholds the supremacy of the party in all circumstances. He ensures that hardworking party members and executive committee members are duly recognized and rewarded.
Through his vibrancy, bravery, and exemplary leadership, the hope for the PDP to triumph beyond 2027 in Oyo State is brighter than ever. The transformation the party has witnessed under his influence will surely enhance our chances in the upcoming general elections.
Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke a fearless politician with a clear conscience often says: “Let us be fighting within the government; it is because we are in government that we fight… so let us tolerate ourselves and uphold the tenets of the party.” He is a true party loyalist who places justice and fairness above personal or group sentiments.
To crown it all, during the State of the State Address delivered by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, at the 2nd Anniversary of the 10th Assembly on Friday, June 20, 2025, the Governor praised Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke as an embodiment of peace, stability, and progress within the PDP in Oyo State. He further urged him to continue deploying all his capacities for the continued progress, unity, and development of the party.
