The newly installed Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Muhammad Shuaibu Dikko II, alongside members of his Council of Chiefs, has paid a thank-you courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, in recognition of his role in facilitating his installation as the head of the Hausa community in Ibadanland.

The visit, held at the chairman’s office, provided an opportunity for the new Sarkin and his entourage to express their appreciation to Olufade for his intervention during the approximately 10-month period of disagreement and competing interests surrounding the installation process, which eventually culminated in the emergence of Dikko II and his installation by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I.

Speaking on behalf of the Council of Chiefs, its chairman, Alhaji Danjuma Yakubu, thanked Olufade for the warm reception accorded the delegation and commended his efforts towards ensuring that the wishes of the Hausa community prevailed.

Danjuma explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally appreciate the local government chairman for taking a keen interest in resolving the prolonged disagreement and facilitating the process that led to the installation of Muhammad Shuaibu Dikko II.

According to him, the Hausa community remains deeply grateful for Olufade’s intervention, describing his involvement as instrumental in bringing the process to a successful conclusion after months of disagreement and conflicting interests.

He noted that the community could not adequately express its appreciation for what he described as a timely intervention that helped pave the way for the emergence of a Seriki accepted by the community.

Also speaking, the councillor representing Ward 6 in Ibadan North Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Fairah, whose ward hosts the palace of the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland, commended Olufade for his role in the installation process.

Fairah said the Hausa community would remain grateful to the chairman for his involvement, describing him as a leader who demonstrated trustworthiness and a commitment to listening to the people.

He added that the successful conclusion of the process had brought joy to members of the community, who were eager to move forward under their newly installed traditional leader.

Similarly, the Supervisory Councillor on Agriculture, Hon. Bala Muhammad, who is also a member of the Hausa community, expressed appreciation to Olufade for his intervention.

Muhammad said the installation of Dikko II had brought satisfaction to members of the community, noting that the new Sarkin enjoys the support of many Hausa residents in Ibadanland.

He also commended the chairman for his approach to community relations and expressed gratitude for his contribution to the resolution of the matter.

In his remarks, the newly installed Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Muhammad Shuaibu Dikko II, expressed profound appreciation to Olufade for the role he played in facilitating the installation process.

Dikko II extended the community’s gratitude to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, while acknowledging the support and interventions his administration had brought to the Hausa community, particularly residents of Sabo.

The traditional leader specifically appreciated Olufade for facilitating the provision of two 500kVA transformers to strategic locations within the Sabo community, describing the interventions as important contributions to the welfare of residents.

He prayed for God’s continued guidance, blessings and upliftment for the chairman, expressing the hope that his political journey and other endeavours would continue to progress.

Responding, Olufade formally welcomed Dikko II and members of his Council of Chiefs to his office, thanking them for the courtesy visit and congratulating the new Seriki on his installation.

The chairman also congratulated the entire Hausa community on the resolution of the prolonged disagreement, expressing satisfaction that the process had eventually produced an outcome that the community welcomed.

Olufade emphasised that the welfare and wishes of the people should take precedence over political differences and personal interests, stressing that his greatest satisfaction came from seeing the community move forward after months of disagreement.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, assuring the Hausa community and residents of Sabo that more developmental interventions would be extended to the area.

The chairman recalled that the Sabo–Jemibewon Road was the first road project embarked upon by his administration, highlighting it as evidence of his commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the living conditions of residents.

He also reiterated his administration’s role in providing two transformers to the community, assuring the delegation that further interventions were being planned.

Olufade stressed that his administration does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, assuring residents that Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and people from other backgrounds would continue to receive equal consideration in the delivery of governance and public services.

According to him, every resident deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness, regardless of ethnic or cultural affiliation, adding that Ibadan North Local Government remains committed to promoting peaceful coexistence and unity among its diverse population.

The chairman further told the Hausa community to agree on a convenient date for the formal celebration of Dikko II’s installation, assuring the delegation of his commitment to supporting the ceremony and ensuring that the new Seriki receives a befitting reception.

The visit ended on a note of appreciation, with the new Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland, Muhammad shuaibu Dikko ll and his Council of Chiefs expressing optimism about continued cooperation with the local government leadership in advancing community development, peaceful coexistence and the welfare of Hausa residents in Ibadanland.
