Barely a week to resuming office, the Oyo State Fire Service, under the leadership of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reforms and Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, has successfully contained a fire outbreak at Wisdom Estate and Parish of the Christ Apostolic Church in Ibadan, the state capital.
The fire service team saved the properties of the inferno, surrounding and a nearby church from destruction.

Speaking with Heritage Echo Correspondence, the devastating fire incident occurred on Friday evening, but the swift response of the fire service prevented it from spreading around other buildings in the estate.
The investigation is still ongoing to determine the root cause of the incident but the eye witness stated that the fire engulfed occurred during the yearly CAROL program, where children were playing. No life was lost.

Hon. Moroof Akinwande confirmed that his team received a distress call and promptly responded to the emergency.
“My team’s swift response to the unaware emergency saves lives, properties, church, and a whole estate from unbearable inferno leading to casualties,” Akinwande said.
He, however, attributed the success of the operation to the bravery and professionalism of his team.
Equally, residents of Wisdom Estate have expressed their gratitude to the fire service for their timely intervention, which prevented what could have been a catastrophic disaster.
The incident is a testament to the importance of having a well-equipped and responsive fire service.
The Oyo State Government has been commended for its efforts in upgrading the state’s fire service, which has resulted in a significant reduction in fire-related incidents.
