66th Independence: Olufade Seeks Collective Action For A Better Nigeria

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, urging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to the task of building a more peaceful, prosperous and united nation.

In a goodwill message to mark the anniversary, Olufade described Nigeria’s independence as a significant milestone in the nation’s history and an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the journey so far while looking ahead with renewed determination.

The Ibadan North Local Government Chairman extended his warm greetings to residents of Ibadan North, the people of Oyo State and Nigerians across the country, acknowledging the resilience and sacrifices of citizens who continue to contribute to the growth and development of the nation despite prevailing challenges.

Olufade stressed that nation-building is a collective responsibility that requires the participation of government, communities, traditional institutions, religious leaders, the private sector, youths and every patriotic citizen.

He called for greater emphasis on peace, mutual respect, accountability, productivity and inclusive development, noting that sustainable progress at the national level must begin with strong communities and responsive governance at the grassroots.

According to him, the challenges facing the country should strengthen rather than weaken Nigerians’ determination to build a better society for future generations.

He said:

“As we celebrate 66 years of independence, we must look beyond the challenges of today and continue to invest our hope in the Nigeria of tomorrow.

Our diversity remains one of our greatest strengths, and by working together in peace and understanding, we can build a country where every citizen has the opportunity to prosper.”

Olufade also expressed concern about the economic hardship being experienced by many Nigerian families, praying that the country would overcome its present difficulties and enter a period of greater economic stability, improved opportunities and enhanced quality of life for its citizens.

He called on leaders at all levels to remain committed to policies and programmes that directly improve the lives of the people, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment, security and economic empowerment.

The council chairman further encouraged Nigerian youths to remain hopeful, acquire relevant skills and actively participate in the development of their communities, stressing that the future of the nation depends significantly on the energy, creativity and ingenuity of the younger generation.

While congratulating Nigerians on the anniversary, Olufade urged citizens to continue to promote peace and peaceful coexistence, regardless of ethnic, religious, political or social differences.

He reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development and responsible leadership in Ibadan North Local Government, stating that local governments have an important role to play in translating the aspirations of government into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens.

“May this Independence Anniversary usher in renewed hope, greater unity, peace and prosperity for our dear country.

May Nigeria continue to advance, and may our collective efforts produce a nation that future generations will be proud to inherit,” he added.

Olufade concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and memorable 66th Independence Anniversary, while praying for continued peace and development in Ibadan North, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
