The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, popularly known as KSA, has received another group of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Remi Oseni Committees of Friends (ROCOF) in Itabo, Lanlate, Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
The development came during KSA’s continued grassroots engagement across communities in the federal constituency, as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Speaking on behalf of the new entrants, the defectors said they decided to leave their former political platforms following what they described as disappointment over the level of development and representation in their community.
They expressed dissatisfaction with the political situation in the area and alleged that, despite their support and mobilisation efforts during the last general election, their expectations regarding community development had not been met.
According to them, their decision to join the APM was driven by their desire to identify with what they described as a more inclusive political movement focused on grassroots engagement and community development.
The defectors subsequently pledged their support for KSA’s aspiration and other candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement in future elections.
Welcoming the new members, Engr. Adedeji assured them that the APM would provide an inclusive platform where members would have opportunities to participate and contribute to the growth of the party.
KSA, who was accompanied by party leaders, including the chairmen of the APM in Ibarapa East and Ido Local Government Areas, urged the new members to remain committed to unity, peace and the collective development of the constituency.
He assured them that their decision to join the party would be valued, stressing the importance of building a political movement that remains connected to the people at the grassroots.
A major highlight of the visit was KSA’s inspection of an ongoing borehole project in Itabo community.
The borehole project, which residents said was originally initiated by Hon. Yemi Taiwo, was observed to be incomplete during the visit.
After inspecting the project and listening to residents’ concerns about access to water, KSA pledged to deploy engineers to assess the facility and explore the possibility of completing the project into a functional solar-powered borehole for the benefit of the community.
The proposed intervention was received with excitement by residents, who expressed hope that the completion of the project would help address water-related challenges in the community.
Community members and the newly received defectors also offered prayers for KSA and expressed appreciation for his engagement with the people and his willingness to respond to issues raised during the visit.
The visit further forms part of KSA’s ongoing consultations, grassroots engagement and political mobilisation across Ido and Ibarapa East Local Government Areas.
As the political landscape continues to evolve ahead of the 2027 general elections, the latest development in Itabo, Lanlate, represents another chapter in the growing political activities and realignments across Ibarapa East.
