The Senator Monsurat Sunmonu Movement (Team SMS) has commenced a grassroots sensitisation and awareness campaign for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo West Local Government Area, as part of efforts to strengthen political participation and mobilise support for the party ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The sensitisation exercise, which commenced today, was led by the Vice Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Alhaji Nureni Alade, witnessed the movement of Team SMS members across communities within the local government area to engage residents and enlighten them on the programmes, vision and electoral aspirations of the APM.

Speaking during the exercise, members of the movement emphasised the importance of active political participation, encouraging residents to take interest in the electoral process and support candidates they believe possess the capacity, experience and commitment to advance the development of their communities and Oyo State at large.

The campaign also provided an avenue for direct interaction between party stakeholders and grassroots supporters, with residents given the opportunity to express their views and expectations concerning governance, representation and community development.

The Team SMS leadership noted that the exercise was designed to build stronger awareness of the APM and encourage broad-based support for all candidates of the party in the forthcoming elections.

Residents who received the team across the areas visited reportedly expressed their readiness to participate actively in the political process, with many reaffirming their support for the continuation of policies and programmes they believe have contributed to the development of Oyo State under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The exercise also highlighted what members of the movement described as growing grassroots confidence in the political aspiration of Hon. Seun Ashamu across the Oyo Federal Constituency, comprising Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba and Afijio local government areas.

Supporters maintained that sustained grassroots engagement, community-based mobilisation and direct interaction with the people remain essential to building a strong political movement capable of reaching every ward and community within the constituency.
The impressive turnout and reception accorded the Team SMS delegation in Oyo West were described by party members as a demonstration of increasing interest in the movement and its political objectives.
Participants, including party members, community stakeholders and residents, expressed confidence in the collective vision of the movement and pledged their commitment to continued mobilisation and engagement ahead of the elections.
With the commencement of the Oyo West sensitisation campaign, Team SMS is expected to sustain its grassroots outreach across communities, wards and other parts of Oyo Federal Constituency as part of a broader effort to strengthen support for the APM and promote active participation in the democratic process.
The campaign further underscored the growing importance of grassroots mobilisation in the political landscape, as stakeholders continue to engage directly with residents, listen to their concerns and build stronger networks of support ahead of the forthcoming elections.
