Calm in the Storm: Why Akeem Agbaje Remains a Viable Choice by Asiwaju Adekola Mudashir

In politics, moments of uncertainty often reveal the true character of those seeking leadership. When the atmosphere becomes charged with permutations, competing interests, rumours, manoeuvring and the inevitable shenanigans that accompany political contests, some people respond with noise, others with desperation. But there are those who understand that leadership is not measured by the volume of one’s voice, but by the strength of one’s conviction.

Barrister Akeem Agbaje has continued to demonstrate that quality.

At a time when the political space within the All Progressives Congress (APC) is witnessing its fair share of intrigues and competing interests, Agbaje has maintained a remarkable sense of calm. He has refused to be distracted by the politics of the moment or drawn into unnecessary controversies. Instead, he has remained focused on the bigger picture: the possibility of building an Oyo State that works for its people.

That calmness is not weakness. It is confidence.

Akeem Agbaje understands that political leadership requires patience, emotional intelligence and the ability to remain focused when the environment becomes turbulent. He recognises that political contests will always produce permutations, alliances and counter-alliances, but he also understands that the ultimate responsibility of leadership is to the people.

This is precisely why his candidacy continues to command attention.

Beyond political calculations, there is a compelling argument for Agbaje as one of the most viable options available to the APC. His professional background, public engagement, understanding of governance and demonstrated connection with the aspirations of ordinary people provide a foundation upon which a credible campaign can be built.

The question before the APC should therefore go beyond who is making the most noise or who has the loudest political machinery. The more important question is: who possesses the capacity, temperament and vision to unite the party and provide purposeful leadership for Oyo State?

That is where Akeem Agbaje’s candidacy deserves serious consideration.

At a time when political temperature can rise quickly, Oyo needs a leader who can remain calm enough to listen, courageous enough to make difficult decisions and experienced enough to understand that governance is ultimately about people—not political theatrics.

Agbaje’s continued composure amid the ongoing permutations within the APC is therefore more than a personal attribute; it is a glimpse into the kind of leadership he represents.

He does not need to respond to every provocation. He does not need to participate in every political drama. His responsibility is to remain focused, articulate his vision and allow the people to judge the strength of his proposition.

Politics may be filled with shenanigans, but leadership demands something different: clarity, character, competence and conviction.

And as the race gradually takes shape, Barrister Akeem Agbaje remains a candidate worthy of serious consideration—a calm voice in a noisy political season, and, for many who believe Oyo deserves a new direction, one of the most viable choices before the APC.
