Properties worth millions of naira were engulfed by fire, as the inferno destroyed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Saki axis of Oyo State.
Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred at the NSCDC area command office on Thursday 4th June, 2026, in Area 1 Igboro, Saki.
It was discovered that the counter base was caught fire as well as some records.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
He said, the firemen led by PFS 11 Kolade, swiftly mobilized and deployed to the scene of the incident.

“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the counter base was on fire. Our officer quickly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to nearby offices and properties.

Also, the fire service launched a coordinated attack and recovered a Man of about 32years-old man from Apitipiti Dam in Awe/Oyo, Oyo State.
The incident occurred at Apitipiti Dam adjacent Celecia Church of Christ, Boluwatife Paris, Awe/Oyo.
It was revealed that due to the hot weather, the man and his colleague were trying to drink and swim and trapped in the dam.
The rescue team immediately swung into action by applying all necessary rescue knots including grappling and operational procedures.
Within a short period of time, the victim was recovered and handed over to the officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Awe Division, Oyo.
The personnel led by FO II Adepoju said the post incident investigation revealed that due to the hot weather the man and his colleague were trying to drink and swim and trapped inside the dam.
Residents applauded the Oyo State Government for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the State fire service in response to emergencies.
Akinwande urged the public to always call fire service in case of any distress and emphasized the importance of installing fire fighting extinguishers in every building.
He also urged the members of the public to be more safety conscious, especially around the dam and running water. Also, care should be taken on soak away wells, abandoned pits, and other hazardous areas within residential environments.
