
The lawmaker representing Oriire State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ogundele Johnson, has assured families and residents of Oriire Local Government Area that concerted efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of the teachers, pupils and other residents abducted by suspected kidnappers in the area.
Hon. Ogundele gave the assurance while speaking with journalists shortly after presenting a Matter of Urgent Public Importance on the floor of the Oyo State House of Assembly during plenary on Wednesday.
The lawmaker disclosed that intensive negotiations and coordinated rescue efforts involving security agencies, community leaders and other critical stakeholders are currently underway to ensure that all the abductees regain their freedom unharmed.
According to him, the unfortunate incident has attracted the attention of both the state government and relevant security authorities, who have intensified efforts to bring the victims back safely while also tracking down the perpetrators of the crime.
“I want to assure the families of the victims and the entire people of Oriire Local Government that nobody has been abandoned. Discussions are ongoing and security agencies are working tirelessly to secure the release of the abductees. We remain hopeful and optimistic that they will return safely to their loved ones,” he said.
Hon. Ogundele noted that the abduction has generated widespread concern across the constituency and the state, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of citizens must remain a top priority for all levels of government.
He further appealed to residents of the affected communities to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing investigations and rescue efforts.
He emphasized that while emotions are understandably high among families of the victims, every necessary measure is being taken to ensure that the situation is handled carefully and responsibly in order to safeguard the lives of the abductees.
