The Oyo State Volunteers, a coalition group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the party’s recently concluded primary elections, describing the process as transparent, democratic and credible.

The position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the group’s leadership held in Ibadan on Wednesday to review the conduct of the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidential primaries of the party.

According to the communiqué released to 9ja News 24/7, the group commended the ADC’s adoption of the direct primary system, noting that it reflected the party’s commitment to democratic principles and grassroots participation.

The Oyo State Volunteers also passed a vote of confidence on the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Afeez Adelowo, applauding what it described as his impartial and transparent handling of the primary election process across the state.

The group further congratulated the winners of the gubernatorial and presidential primaries, Chief Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, respectively, expressing confidence in their ability to lead the party to victory in the forthcoming general elections.

Addressing concerns raised in some quarters over the conduct of the primaries, the Volunteers distanced themselves from allegations of malpractice, describing such claims as unfounded and the handiwork of disgruntled individuals dissatisfied with the outcome of the exercise.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to the growth and development of the ADC in Oyo State and across Nigeria, pledging continued support for the party’s leadership and candidates ahead of future electoral contests.

The communiqué was jointly endorsed by the Oyo State Chairman of the group, Hon. Wale Afolabi, alongside state leaders Hon. Taiwo Ibrahim, Hon. Akinwumi Akinfewa and Mogaji Sulaimon.
