Residents of Balogun-Alalubosa and adjoining communities in Oyo township have commended Governor Seyi Makinde for initiating the ongoing reconstruction of the Balogun-Alalubosa Junction inner road, describing the project as a major relief to motorists, residents, and business owners in the area.

It is worth recalling that the reconstitution of the Oyo township inner road began with the Kosobo layout, followed by the ongoing projects at Ladindin-Ojongbodu-Iseke-Anwaru-Islam, Balogun-Alalubosa, and others in the Oyo zone.

The residents, who spoke with journalists during a visit to the project site, also praised the contractor handling the road construction for the pace and quality of work being carried out.

According to them, the road had been in a deplorable condition for several years, causing untold hardship for commuters and residents, especially during the rainy season when flooding and potholes made movement difficult.

A resident, who identified himself as Mr. Adewale Akinyemi, said the intervention by the state government has renewed the hope of residents who had long awaited the rehabilitation of the road.

“For years, this road was almost impassable and many people avoided using it because of its terrible condition. We are grateful to Governor Makinde for listening to our concerns and taking action. We must also commend the contractor for working diligently,” he said.

Another resident, Mrs. Bose Ibrahim, noted that the road project would significantly improve transportation, enhance economic activities, and increase property value within the community upon completion.

She added that traders and artisans in the area have already begun experiencing increased patronage due to improved accessibility brought by the ongoing construction work.

The residents urged the state government to sustain infrastructural development across other communities in the state, stressing that good road networks remain crucial to economic growth and improved living standards.

They reaffirmed their support for Governor Makinde’s administration, expressing optimism that the completion of the project would further boost development in the area.

At the time of filling this report, culvert moulding is still ongoing and the pace of work is well appreciated by the residents.
