
The Forum of Chiefs of Staff across the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State has declared its support for Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as the preferred successor to Governor Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
The forum made its position known in a statement issued after a strategic meeting led by the Chairman who double as Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Hon. Ademuyiwa Adewara, held to assess the political landscape in the state and chart a course for continuity in governance.
According to the group, Hon. Adekanmbi possesses the leadership qualities, administrative experience, and political capacity required to sustain the developmental strides recorded under Governor Makinde’s administration.
The forum noted that Adekanmbi has remained a loyal party man and a committed public servant whose contributions to governance and grassroots development have earned him widespread respect across Oyo State.
They emphasized that their endorsement was driven by the need to preserve the legacy of Governor Makinde’s administration, which they described as transformative across critical sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and economic development.
The Chiefs of Staff also applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for what they termed his visionary leadership style, inclusive governance, and commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to residents of the state.
They stated that under Makinde’s leadership, Oyo State has witnessed significant growth and stability, adding that his administration has laid a strong foundation that must be sustained beyond his tenure.
“We believe Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi has the competence, experience, and political understanding needed to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde. Our endorsement reflects our confidence in his ability to lead Oyo State to greater heights,” the statement read.
The forum further called on stakeholders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and residents of the state to support Adekanmbi’s aspiration in the interest of continuity, progress, and sustainable development.
They reaffirmed their commitment to working towards a seamless political transition that would protect the gains of the current administration and ensure that Oyo State continues on the path of growth.
