…hails Oyo workers, says Makinde’s welfarism an unmatched legacy

A frontline senatorial aspirant in Oyo South Senatorial District and former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dada Awoleye, has described workers as the driving force behind effective governance at any level of governance.

He noted that no administration can succeed without a motivated and well-supported workforce.

This was contained in a statement he released on Thursday to commemorate the 2026 International Workers’ Day.

Awoleye praised workers across Oyo State for their resilience, professionalism, and commitment to public service, saying their contributions continue to sustain the machinery of government.

He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what he termed a “remarkable and deliberate investment in workers’ welfare,” adding that the administration has set a standard that stands out not only in the state but across the country.

“Workers remain the bedrock of any successful administration. Their dedication, often under challenging conditions, is what keeps governance alive and impactful.

“In Oyo State, we have seen a government that recognizes this truth and has acted accordingly,” Awoleye said.

The former lawmaker highlighted key strides recorded under the Makinde administration, including prompt and consistent payment of salaries on or before the 25th of every month, improved welfare packages, and policies aimed at strengthening human capital development across various sectors.

According to him, the administration’s focus on creating a worker-friendly environment has enhanced productivity within the civil service while fostering trust between government and employees.

He also pointed to ongoing institutional reforms designed to improve efficiency in governance, noting that strong and functional institutions are critical to sustainable development.

“What we are witnessing is not just governance, but a conscious effort to build systems that will outlive individuals in office per time.

“Strengthening institutions ensures continuity, stability, and accountability, and that is what ultimately benefits workers and the general public,” he added.

Awoleye further lauded the government’s investment in training and capacity building, describing it as a forward-looking approach that equips workers with the skills required to meet modern administrative demands.

He urged workers to remain steadfast and committed to excellence, assuring them that their efforts are recognized and valued.

“As we celebrate this year’s Workers’ Day, I encourage all workers to continue to uphold diligence and integrity in their service. Your role in shaping the future of our state cannot be overstated,” he said.

Reaffirming his commitment to policies that prioritize workers’ welfare, Awoleye stated that his aspiration to represent Oyo South Senatorial District is rooted in a desire to build on existing gains and advocate for improved working conditions at all levels.

He called for sustained collaboration between government and the workforce, stressing that such synergy remains essential for delivering good governance and inclusive development.
