After weeks of high-level consultations and strategic engagements, leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North have reached a final consensus on candidates to represent the party in the 2027 general elections.
In the latest development, Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel, the serving member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North Constituency II, has officially secured the PDP re-election ticket following a prolonged stakeholders’ meeting.
His emergence comes as part of a broader consensus arrangement aimed at strengthening party unity and consolidating electoral victory in the constituency.
Prior to his emergence, his counterpart, Hon. Olufunke Comforter, who represents Ibadan North Constituency I in the Oyo State House of Assembly, had earlier been endorsed for a second term.
Similarly, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON, the member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, had also secured the party’s ticket for re-election.
Party insiders disclosed that the decisions were the outcome of extensive deliberations involving key stakeholders, party elders, and influential leaders within the Ibadan North political structure.
The coordinated endorsements are widely seen as a strategic move by the PDP to maintain stability, reward performance, and present a united front ahead of the forthcoming elections. Political observers note that the trio of Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel, and Hon. Olufunke Comforter have demonstrated commitment to grassroots development and legislative effectiveness, earning them the confidence of party leaders and constituents alike.

The party leadership has called on members and supporters to rally behind the candidates, emphasizing unity, continuity, and sustained development as key pillars of their campaign going forward.
