…Aspirant promises student database from primary level, alignment with UNESCO education benchmarks.

A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 election, engaging media professionals as part of a broader strategy to deepen stakeholder alignment and present his governance blueprint.

The interactive session, which brought together journalists, party media stakeholders, and communication experts from across the state, provided a platform for Ajadi to formally articulate his vision and respond to key governance concerns.

Addressing participants, Ajadi underscored the critical role of the media in strengthening democracy, noting that beyond information dissemination, the press remains central to transparency, accountability, and public trust.

He explained that his engagement reflects a deliberate consultative approach aimed at fostering inclusive governance and ensuring that diverse perspectives shape policy direction.

Positioning himself as a prepared and capable contender, Ajadi highlighted his background in business and grassroots engagement as key assets in tackling socio-economic challenges and advancing sustainable development in Oyo State.

Central to his message was a firm commitment to continuity. He reiterated that his ambition is not to discard the achievements of the current administration led by Governor Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde, but to consolidate and expand on existing gains.

“I am not coming to start afresh; I am coming to build on a solid foundation. Governance is about continuity and advancement, and Oyo State deserves even greater progress,” he stated.

Ajadi further pledged to sustain and deepen the development strides recorded under Makinde’s leadership, particularly in infrastructure, institutional reforms, and economic expansion.

In a significant policy direction, the aspirant unveiled plans to prioritize education as a cornerstone of his administration. He promised the development of a comprehensive database for Oyo State students, beginning from primary school level, as part of efforts to enhance planning, monitoring, and policy effectiveness in the sector.

He also committed to aligning the state’s education funding and outcomes with global best practices, including adherence to the recommended benchmarks of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on education investment.

According to him, strengthening data-driven decision-making and increasing budgetary commitment to education would improve access, quality, and learning outcomes across the state.

Beyond education, Ajadi outlined plans to expand infrastructure development, particularly road networks and rural connectivity, to stimulate economic activities and ease movement.

In the healthcare sector, he pledged to strengthen primary healthcare systems, improve accessibility, and enhance the welfare of medical personnel.

He also identified agriculture as a major driver of economic growth, promising support for farmers through mechanization, improved access to funding, and stronger market linkages.

Energy and renewable, Ajani assured Oyo residents of productive innovation in complementing the ongoing Independent Power Project of Engr ‘Seyi Makinde.

On youth development, Ajadi assured that his administration would prioritize job creation through skill acquisition programmes, entrepreneurship support, and technology-driven opportunities to address unemployment.

He further emphasized the importance of community-based security collaboration, noting that strategic investment and coordination with security agencies would be key to safeguarding lives and property.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, Ajadi stated that while he remains confident in his ambition, he is committed to the party’s internal democratic process and will support its eventual candidate.

“As a loyal party member, I will abide by the decisions of the PDP. However, I believe my consultations, grassroots connection, and engagement across all zones have positioned me as a strong contender,” he said.

Ajadi concluded by expressing readiness to lead Oyo State into a new phase of inclusive growth, stressing that his vision is anchored on continuity, innovation, and sustainable development.
