A fire outbreak on Tuesday razed a residential building and a truck loaded with palm kernel shafts in separate incidents across Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

According to reports gathered by Heritage Echo, the first incident occurred at Sabo Suya Road, Mokola, where an old six-room residential building was engulfed in flames.

accounts indicated that the structure was already heavily ablaze, with thick smoke billowing into the atmosphere before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the inferno, leaving occupants counting their losses.

In a related development, a second fire incident was recorded along the Alakia Expressway, directly in front of a petroleum station, where an Iveco trailer truck conveying palm kernel shafts caught fire while in motion.

The blaze reportedly consumed the truck and its contents.

Confirming both incidents, the Special Adviser to the Governor/Agency Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, stated that no lives were lost.

“Upon arrival at the Mokola scene, we met an ancient six-room residential building well alight and covered with thick smoke. No casualty was recorded,” Akinwande said.

Speaking on the truck fire, he added, “It was an Iveco trailer loaded with palm kernel shafts that caught fire while in motion. The situation was promptly brought under control.”

Fire service officials were able to contain both incidents, preventing further spread and averting potential disasters in the affected areas.
